David Matthew, a Canadian won approximately $2 million for the second spot at the World Poker Tournament last month. WPT or World Poker Tournament is the largest and most prestigious poker tournament in the world with thousands of player participating in it from all over the world.
Matthew, 47, works as the president for a Toronto based Company. “I'm still going to own my business. But I won't be doing any more work after probably this week. I already have people lined up to do my work”, he said.
On 24th April 2006, Matthew won $1,903,950 at the World Poker Tournament for the second spot. He had registered for the World Poker Tournament at the online casino ParadisePoker.com by paying just a small fee of $25. He played the first stage at the Bellagio Hotel Casino and then continued from there till the final event.
Not a very experienced player, Matthew had learnt playing Texas Hold’em just two years ago at a Casino is Vegas. He started playing the game regularly since the last one year and took part in the online poker tournaments almost every night. He had a lot of support from his wife.
Matthew maintains that to win you need a combination of luck and proper strategies. “I could be beaten any day and any time” said Matthew.
